One should never confuse the bleeding during the menstrual period and the sign of fertility. During the implantation, blood vessels in your uterine lining can burst and releases blood. Many women end up mistaking it with a period, which you must be aware of.

Some of the symptoms you will find during heavy implantation bleeding are-

  • Breast tenderness
  • Headaches
  • Mild cramping
  • Mild nausea

How does the implantation-bleeding look like?

The implantation bleeding looks like a spot that appears on the wiping. Many times, it may also appear as the consistent and light flow of blood, which will need a light pad or panty liner. Sometimes the blood may also look orange or pink. In the early stage of pregnancy, there are no clots in the implantation bleeding. Forced Abortion-

One of the reasons behind the heavy implantation bleeding is due to forced abortion. During such a situation, the fetus remains inside your uterus but comes out of pregnancy.

Yes, taking a pregnancy test during implantation bleeding is possible. Taking this test will help in measuring your levels of human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) hormone in the urine. These hormones are usually produced when you are pregnant, and your blood carries the same hormone. During implantation bleeding, you will get a positive pregnancy test. It is better you wait for one week after implantation once you reach the first stage of pregnancy.

Implantation bleeding should not be a concern because it does not post any real risk. In case you are bleeding for more than a few days after missing the period, then it is not the implantation bleeding.

Many women fear that heavy implantation bleeding can cause negative pregnancy. However, more than 50% of women experiencing this problem have a normal and healthy pregnancy. However, if the heavy implantation bleeding does not stop, it is a concern, and you must show it to your doctor.

Miscarriage- There is a high chance of miscarriage during 12 weeks of pregnancy and is the biggest reason for heavy bleeding. However, this does not mean you lost a baby. It is quite common to have a miscarriage due to a specific purpose.

Molar Pregnancy-

This is also called as Gestational Trophoblastic disease and is a rare condition, which the pregnant women may face. In some cases, the tissue is cancerous, so it can end up spreading to other parts of the body. There are different symptoms of molar pregnancy, including nausea and vomiting.

Bleeding in the second and third trimester-

If you are facing abnormal bleeding in the late pregnancy, then it can be more severe because it may cause a problem for your baby. Some possible reasons behind bleeding during these times are-

  • Placenta Previa-

This happens when the placenta sits low in the uterus and completely covers the opening of the birth canal. This is quite rare in the last third trimester and occurs to one in every 200 pregnant women.

  • Placental Abruption-

In rare cases, the placenta detaches from the wall of the uterus during labor pain. It can be dangerous to both the mother and baby. There are other signs of placental abruption like abdominal pain, clots, back pain, and tender uterus.

  • Vasa Previa-

In this condition, the developing baby's blood vessels in the placenta cross the opening of the birth canal. This can be dangerous to the baby as it leads to the opening of blood vessels causing the baby to bleed severely

  • Premature Labor-

If you are facing vaginal bleeding during the last stage of pregnancy, then you are ready to deliver. Weeks before the labor begins, the mucus plug covering the uterus will pass the vagina. In case, the bleeding starts before the 37th week of pregnancy, contact your doctor for medication.
